Everyone was delighted to learn that our Organist and Director of Music was appointed a Member of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List. Trevor will receive his award at an investiture later in the year. He has been Organist and Choirmaster at St Martin’s since 1966 and is only one of three organists at the church during the last century. For over 45 years Trevor has also taught the organ. He has been closely involved with the blind and partially sighted students NEW College Worcester for many years and a number of Organ Scholars have progressed to read music at University.
We celebrated the announcement with wine and cake after the 10.00am service on Sunday 30th December when the Rector spoke about Trevor’s achievements which have now been recognised by this award. We sang “For he’s a Jolly Good Fellow....” warmly congratulated him and had a toast to Trevor, Hilary and the family!!
Trevor Tipple is also an expert in organ re-building and restoration and is now partially retired having owned a company in Shrub Hill, Worcester. He has maintained more than 300 organs across the UK.
Trevor received the MBE for ....services to church music in Worcestershire – an honour so well-deserved.
