Firm Friends – Bach, Handel and Telemann
Ensemble Échos presents a programme of solos and trios by the most famous of baroque
composers, Bach, Handel and Telemann, all of whom were born in the same year and were
well-acquainted in their own time. The programme explores familiar and lesser known
chamber works by this baroque triumvirate including contemporary arrangements from some
of Handel’s most famous works as well as the infamous Air with Variations from the
Keyboard Suite in E major, better known as the ‘Harmonious Blacksmith’.
Ensemble Échos performs on period instruments in a historically informed manner. Each
member has their own, active and varied career as a musician, but we come together to
share our knowledge and passion for music of the baroque age.
