Whist Drive

Whist is a classic trick-taking card game that has delighted players for centuries. Its origins trace back to the 18th century, and it remains a favourite at community events, social gatherings, and family reunions. The rules are easy to learn, but the game’s strategy and camaraderie make every round unique.

In Flag Whist, one member of the team stays put at their table, while the other members take turns to progress around the room, and return to base playing different teams. The winners are those who win the most encounters with other teams.

Not played before or not for a long time? Don’t worry; pick up a leaflet explaining the rules from the church in the few weeks before and/or come a little early, from 6.30pm on the night for some practice and guidance. Don’t worry if you’ve never played before - our volunteers will gladly assist.
